The first China Design Exhibition is a national level professional design exhibition jointly organized by the Ministry of Culture and the Shenzhen Municipal Government, organized by the Art Department of the Ministry of Culture, the Propaganda Department of the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Shenzhen "City of Design" Promotion Office, and the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Culture, Sports and Tourism. It is also the largest design project held in Shenzhen since it was named the "City of Design" by UNESCO.

On the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Guan Shan Yue Art Museum and the 100th anniversary of Guan Shan Yue's birth, the museum has carefully prepared a series of exhibitions of Chinese 20th century art masters, showcasing the emotions and character of art masters to the citizens of Shenzhen. Here, the Guan Shan Yue Art Museum and the Shanghai Art Museum have selected over a hundred works by Hua Junwu to review and share with the audience the wonderful artistic life presented by Hua Junwu in the form of comics.

In the history of modern and contemporary art in our country, Fu Baoshi and Guan Shanyue are undoubtedly two giants in the art world. Their masterpiece "Jiangshan So Many Beauties" created for the Great Hall of the People in 1959 is a well-known masterpiece and a groundbreaking work in art history. In 1961, they went to Northeast China to sketch together. In two intimate collaborations and interactions, they established a deep friendship and left behind beautiful stories.

Taking advantage of the opportunity to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Mr. Guan's birth, the Shenzhen Guan Shan Yue Art Museum, based on its collection of works and related literature, also borrows some works and materials to form the "Shan Yue Dan Qing: Commemorating the 100th anniversary of Guan Shan Yue's birth art exhibition". We hope that this exhibition can comprehensively showcase Guan Shanyue's long artistic path and outstanding artistic achievements, reveal the main problems faced by Chinese art in the 20th century, and Guan's unique way of responding to these problems, providing several valuable experiences for the current development of Chinese art, especially Chinese painting art.

This exhibition reflects the new appearance of art creation in the 30 years since the establishment of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone. The work is themed around showcasing the achievements of Shenzhen's construction, and in the form of art, it reproduces the urban construction and humanistic spirit of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone since its establishment 32 years ago. After more than half a year of organization and mobilization, this exhibition has collected more than 400 artworks created by local artists in recent years. After careful selection, more than 200 excellent works have been selected, presenting a joyful situation of "a hundred flowers blooming and a hundred schools of thought competing" in our city's art creation.

Starting from the late 1970s, Mr. Chen Xuesi, a journalist from the Guangdong branch of Xinhua News Agency, tracked and recorded the artistic activities of Guan Shanyue for 20 years. Mr. Chen Xuesi vividly captured the precious moments of Guan Shanyue's artistic creation, academic exchange, outdoor sketching, and daily life through his photographic lens.

With the strong support of the Propaganda Department of the Shenzhen Municipal Party Committee and the Shenzhen Bureau of Culture, Sports and Tourism, as well as the strong cooperation of the Guan Shan Yue Art Museum and the Hong Kong Illustrators Association, this activity has been increasing in scale and influence year by year. The art form of illustration is gradually being understood by more people and has spread nationwide, forming a trend. As an important component of the cultural industry, illustrations have broad support and penetration for the creative design industry, and have significant aesthetic influence on social and cultural forms. The National Illustration Art Exhibition, headquartered in Shenzhen, has become the most authoritative, professional, large-scale, and high-level biennial exhibition in the domestic illustration art industry.

Since the 1980s, Mr. Li Xiaoke has entered the Tibetan region more than 20 times to experience and collect style, taking tens of thousands of photos. In 2007, Mr. Li Xiaoke began exploring the re creation of works from these Tibetan areas, combining printmaking language with documentary photography to give new artistic expression to the original works.
