Named after the renowned master of Lingnan School of painting and distinguished art educator, Mr. Guan Shanyue, Guan Shanyue Art Museum is a modern art museum that combines the functions of a memorial hall for famous artists with those of a national art museum. Before his passing, Mr. Guan donated 813 representative works from various historical periods of his career, as well as a collection of books and documents, to Shenzhen, which not only facilitated the establishment of this art museum but also laid the academic foundation for our museum's research on Guan Shanyue's art. Since its inception, we have successfully explored a mutually beneficial development path that integrates the functions of a memorial hall for famous artists with those of a national art museum, aligning with the cultural development of Shenzhen city and the construction of the art museum. Through 20 years of continuous practice, we have gradually formed an academic orientation led by "the study of Guan Shanyue's art and Chinese art in the mid-to-late 20th century, as well as contemporary design art," striving to establish exhibition brands in these areas. 

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of Guan Shanyue Art Museum and the 105th anniversary of Guan Shanyue's birth. To commemorate these milestones, we have invited Yang Xiaoneng to curate the special exhibition, "Guan Shanyue and His Era," which explores the landscape art of Guan Shanyue and the development trajectory of Chinese landscape painting in the 20th century through the lens of representative, stylistically diverse, and accomplished landscape painters from three distinct periods of the century: Transformation - The Path of Pioneers, Controversy - The Ode to the Times, and Divergence - The Return to Art.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to China and the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Guan Shanyue Art Museum, with the support of Li Jinkun, the Director of the Lingnan School of Painting Memorial Hall, we have selected 60 works from the collection of collaborative paintings by the four masters of the Lingnan School and exhibited them in our museum. This exhibition is not only a way for us to remember the sages of the Lingnan School of Painting on such a special occasion but also a significant artistic feast for the general public.

"Currently- 2017 Exhibition of Works by the Guan Shanyue Art Museum Creation Institute" marks the debut of the Guan Shanyue Art Museum Creation Institute's collective in Shenzhen. These works, diverse in style and appearance, showcase the current creative state of Shenzhen's artists. Through the platform of art museums nationwide, we aspire to facilitate exchanges between outstanding Shenzhen artists and their counterparts from various regions, jointly advancing the development of Chinese art alongside artists from across the country. Together, we strive to contribute to the realization of the Chinese Dream with outstanding artworks that are worthy of our time.

On June 7th, 2017, "THE FUNDAMENTAL——THE LITERATI PAINTING OF CHEN LVSHENG" opened at the Guan Shanyue Art Museum in Shenzhen, showcasing 75 paintings created by Mr. Chen Lyusheng in recent years. Notably, the series of paintings titled "Literary Thoughts" featuring the Chinese Scholar Tree (also known as the Goldenrain Tree) is exhibited for the first time in Shenzhen.

 The 2017 Children's Exhibition "DREAM+: Growing Up Together Art Exhibition", jointly created by the Guan Shanyue Art Museum and Shenzhen Annal Co., Ltd., will be exhibited in all exhibition halls on the first floor of the Guan Shanyue Art Museum from May 28 to June 4, 2017. On the morning of May 28th at 10:00, the opening ceremony will be held in the lobby of the first floor of the Guan Shanyue Art Museum. At the opening ceremony, professional dancers from Shenzhen Pengyu Contemporary Dance Troupe and small models from Shenzhen Little Swan Model Dance Art Troupe will bring stunning modern dance performances and fashion shows to everyone.

The Exhibition of Wu Haicheng's Sketching Works, organized by the Guangdong Artists Association, Foshan Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and Foshan Artists Association, was held from May 16 to 24, 2017 at the Guan Shanyue Art Museum in Shenzhen. Ninety works were exhibited in this exhibition.

This exhibition covers representative, inheritable, systematic, and related samples of Fengxiang woodblock New Year paintings in Shaanxi, China, Japanese ukiyo-e prints, and Italian Carlo copperplate prints. These samples run through the 17th to 19th centuries in time and span across Asia and Europe in space. The opportunity created by the collection behavior of Heilongjiang Provincial Art Museum based on its academic positioning has allowed three different cultural attributes of printmaking works to come together, giving colleagues from all walks of life the opportunity to "see through the East and West". Through printmaking from different eras, regions, and with vastly different styles, empirical evidence is preserved, observing and comparing the historical trajectory, ethnic characteristics, language characteristics, and culture reflected in them. The aesthetic significance and cultural value of the essence and experiential characteristics of printmaking.
