This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Guan Shanyue Art Museum. Since its establishment, under the leadership of successive administrations and the dedicated efforts of all staff members, the museum has gradually developed a clear strategic direction based on its collection strengths, Shenzhen's unique urban cultural characteristics, and long-term goals for its development. This direction prioritizes research, with a foundation in collection, utilizing exhibition, education, and promotion as means to satisfy the ever-growing spiritual and cultural needs of the people, ultimately aiming to build a comprehensive and efficient public cultural service system. The museum has established an academic focus centered on "the art of Guan Shanyue and the study of Chinese art from the mid-to-late 20th century, as well as contemporary art and design," striving to create an exhibition brand synonymous with these areas. The articulation and implementation of this clear academic focus and development strategy signify the establishment of the Guan Shanyue Art Museum's independent academic character and pursuit. In 2011, the museum was designated as one of the first nine National Key Art Museums by the Ministry of Culture, solidifying its status as a prestigious national hub for planning and hosting major art exhibitions and an international platform for artistic exchange.

In line with the spirit of President Xi Jinping's speech at the Symposium on Literature and Art in October 2014 and the requirements of the "Shenzhen Cultural Innovation and Development 2020" plan, the Guan Shanyue Art Museum's leadership has decided to leverage the museum's resources and platforms, harness the talents of its art creators, and integrate and optimize social resources for artistic creation in Shenzhen. On this foundation, the art museum has established the Guan Shanyue Art Museum Creation Institute, incorporating outstanding local artists into its professional creative team.

The works showcased in this exhibition represent the debut of the Guan Shanyue Art Museum Creation Institute in Shenzhen. These diverse and distinctive pieces reflect the current creative state of Shenzhen's artists. Through national art museum platforms, we aspire to foster exchanges between outstanding Shenzhen artists and their peers from around the country, jointly advancing the development of Chinese art and contributing to the realization of the Chinese Dream with outstanding artworks worthy of our time.
