  • Searching for distant memories
  • Li Xiaoke

  • In order to find new painting language and feelings, I have visited Tibetan areas in the west for many times. After going through the sources of the Yellow River and the Yangtze River in Qinghai, Qaidam, Ali, Mount Everest, Naqu in Xizang, Maqu, Luqu and Xiahe in Gannan, I had the opportunity to get close contact with Tibetan people in Tibet. The purity, vastness, and vastness of nature in Tibet; The genuine warmth, toughness, and simplicity of Tibetans have shaken me. In the current era of colorful objectification, the primitive state of Tibetan people in Tibet has brought people a sense of life and soul washing. That is a mysterious realm that can break one's soul. I try to get closer, but it is always in the distance, which contains change, loss, and eternity... This is also like life, always in the process of trying to surpass and not being able to surpass.

The nearly ten thousand photos left behind in Tibet have become indelible memories in my life. As time goes by, I am still moved by these memories and begin to explore using printmaking language to reproduce those vivid and passionate images. In my creation, I am like the Tibetans who used their endless lives to carve Buddha statues and scriptures on stones and print them on prayer flags. With a devout heart, I constantly imprint this indelible memory to express my deep admiration and emotion for the Tibetans in Tibet.
