In the report of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, President Xi Jinping pointed out that "the entry of socialism with Chinese characteristics into a new era means that the path, theory, system, and culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics continue to develop, expanding the ways for developing countries to move towards modernization, providing new choices for countries and ethnic groups in the world that hope to accelerate development while maintaining their independence, and contributing Chinese wisdom and solutions to solving human problems. The holding of the" Passing on the Torch of Cultural Heritage -2019 China Freehand Oil Painting School Annual Exhibition "and the proposal of the" Freehand Oil Painting "topic are the concrete practices of our" Chinese wisdom "and" Chinese solutions "to solve the development problems of contemporary oil painting, and are the best embodiment of cultural confidence.

In 2019, with the release of the Outline of the Development Plan for the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council, as well as the Opinions on Supporting the Construction of Shenzhen as a Pilot Demonstration Zone for Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, Shenzhen played the strong voice of the new era of reform and opening up. Shenzhen not only serves as a window for reform and opening up, but also a window to showcase the charm and confidence of Chinese culture.

Based on this background, as a national key art museum and also one of the core cities of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, the Guan Shanyue  Art Museum in Shenzhen, with the support of the Shenzhen Special Fund for Propaganda and Cultural Development, we have collaborated with the Beijing Contemporary China Freehand Oil Painting Research Institute and Lingnan Painting Institute to continue holding the fifth "Passing on the Torch of Cultural Heritage -2019 China Freehand Oil Painting School Annual Exhibition". The project aims to cultivate the humanistic spirit of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, create a high-quality cultural project in the Bay Area, and strive to promote the creation and research of contemporary freehand oil painting from the perspective of regional culture and the spirit of the times. Starting from the exhibition, research, and publication of the works of renowned Chinese artists in the field of Chinese freehand oil painting, this exhibition aims to conduct academic research and sorting on Chinese freehand oil painting. The exhibition not only gathers the latest achievements and promotes academic research, but also provides a platform for artists across the country to exchange and research. Through a nationwide tour, it jointly promotes the development of Chinese freehand oil painting.
