- Nature as Teacher: The Essence of Taihang Mountains
-
The nurturing power of nature and the wonders crafted by heaven and earth have always inspired profound contemplation and reverie among art enthusiasts. Among them, the Taihang Mountains, hailed as the backbone of the Chinese nation, have long been a shared aspiration for countless landscape painters.
In 1995, the author, accompanied by renowned domestic painter Guo Ziliang, embarked on their first journey to the Taihang Mountains, awestruck by their majestic grandeur and breathtaking beauty. Although they did not have the opportunity to delve deep into the mountains at that time, the lush green layers of clouds in Guoliang Village and Nanping Village, the ancient trees and cascading waterfalls, the misty villages shrouded in fog, and the winding, rugged paths left an indelible impression on them for over a decade.
In 2007, upon retirement, the author embarked on a third journey to the Taihang Mountains with Guo Ziliang and several other like-minded artists. After half a month of observing intently and painting from life, the Taihang Mountains that emerged from their brushes evoked a profound sense of the boundless universe!
Despite visiting the Taihang Mountains three times, the author felt it was not enough. To date, he has made eight trips to the mountains. Through his numerous on-site paintings, the awe-inspiring works of nature and the towering, precipitous peaks of the Taihang Mountains are vividly captured, with each brushstroke embodying the author's boundless affection for the mountains and his admiration for nature's ability to nurture all things. In every painting, the spirit of "Nature as Teacher: The Essence of Taihang Mountains" is embodied to the utmost.
