The exhibition will be held simultaneously at the Guan Shan Yue Art Museum and the Hua Shi Art Museum, with an exhibition period until October 29th.
The opening ceremony was hosted by Tang Jie. At the opening ceremony, Wang Jingsheng delivered a speech on behalf of the Municipal Party Committee and Government, stating that Shenzhen has always been committed to developing creative culture. In 2008, Shenzhen was awarded the title of "City of Design" by UNESCO. Taking this honor as a new starting point, Shenzhen is accelerating the development and construction of the "City of Design" brand, creating an important platform for independent innovation and cultural value output, and promoting the overall development of Shenzhen's society, economy, and culture. He stated that art and design are an important form of creative culture, and hosting this art and design exhibition will open a new chapter in enhancing Shenzhen's urban soft power and implementing the "cultural city" strategy.
Wu Changjiang, Secretary of the Party Group and Executive Vice Chairman of the China Artists Association, stated in his speech that the National Art Exhibition is a national level art exhibition held every five years, with a history of 60 years to this year. It is the highest level, largest specification, and most influential exhibition in the Chinese art community. He said that after the opening of the 9th National Art Exhibition Design Exhibition, the National Art Exhibition Design Exhibition was once again held in Shenzhen. As the "City of Design" named by UNESCO, Shenzhen is a reflection of China's design achievements over the past 30 years.
It is understood that more than 3000 works from across the country have applied for this exhibition. After the initial evaluation, nearly 746 works entered the comprehensive evaluation by the judges in the form of physical original works. In mid August, 29 judges gathered in Shenzhen to select more than 460 selected works through anonymous voting, including 88 nominated excellent works, including 4 gold nominated works, 9 silver nominated works, 8 bronze nominated works, and 8 excellent nominated works. These works vividly reflect the breadth of Chinese design and its degree of involvement in social life.
In the list of exhibitors, the reporter saw many names of Shenzhen designers. According to statistics, 57 design works in Shenzhen were shortlisted, and 15 were nominated for excellent works, with an award rate of nearly 20%, once again demonstrating the creative strength of the young "design capital".
The exhibited works are mainly focused on the strength of the college, and many of them reflect the humanistic sentiment of paying attention to social hot issues. Wenchuan earthquake resistance has become an important design theme among them. The poster gold nominated work "5.12, I Have an Ideal" was completed in a simple and primitive hand drawn manner, depicting a group of portraits of earthquake orphans, expressing blessings and commemoration for the victims of the earthquake.
The industrial design work "All Terrain Assault Rescue Vehicle" left an unforgettable impression on the judges. This is the reflection and creation of earthquake rescue methods by students from Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts. They used collective wisdom to integrate the functional characteristics of medical rescue and engineering equipment, creating such a cool looking multifunctional rescue vehicle.
