Yesterday, the 11th National Art Exhibition · Art Design Exhibition was grandly opened at the newly renovated Guanshan Yue Art Museum. Chinese design artists presented a generous gift to the 60th anniversary of the Republic with works that combine brilliant creativity and wonderful design. Chen Xiaoguang, Deputy Minister of Culture, Feng Yuan, Vice Chairman of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, Liu Dawei, Vice Chairman of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and Chairman of the China Artists Association, Wang Rong, Standing Committee Member and Acting Mayor of Guangdong Province, Wang Jingsheng, Standing Committee Member and Minister of Propaganda of the City, Tang Jie, Deputy Mayor, and Li Youwei, senior leaders of the City, cut the ribbon for the exhibition.

Since the first National Art Exhibition in 1949, it has been held every 5 years and has accompanied New China for 60 years. It is the highest level, largest scale, and most influential exhibition in the Chinese art industry, and one of the longest running national cultural activities in China. It has played an important role in the prosperity and development of the literary and artistic industry in New China. This year's National Art and Design Exhibition is jointly organized by the Ministry of Culture, the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and the China Art Association. It is hosted by the Propaganda Department of the Shenzhen Municipal Party Committee, the Municipal Bureau of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Municipal Federation of Literary and Art Circles. In this exhibition, the organizing committee of the art exhibition received more than 3000 applications, and more than 460 works were ultimately shortlisted. In our city, 57 works were finally shortlisted, accounting for 12% of the shortlisted works. Among the 89 works nominated for excellent works, Shenzhen accounted for 15, which is a testament to the design power of the "City of Design".

The opening ceremony was hosted by Tang Jie. At the opening ceremony, Wang Jingsheng delivered a speech on behalf of the Municipal Party Committee and Government, stating that while young Shenzhen is pursuing economic takeoff, it is also very eager for cultural nourishment, and as a result, it has shown vibrant vitality and youthful charm. Shenzhen has been committed to developing creative culture and was awarded the title of "City of Design" by UNESCO in 2008. Shenzhen takes honor as a new starting point, accelerates the development and construction of the "City of Design" brand, and creates the "City of Design" as an important platform for independent innovation and cultural value output, promoting the overall development of Shenzhen's society, economy, and culture. He stated that art and design are an important form of creative culture. Organizing this art and design exhibition well will add a rich and colorful touch to Shenzhen's cultural construction, and open a new page for enhancing Shenzhen's urban soft power and implementing the "cultural city" strategy. Shenzhen will work hard to turn this exhibition into a high-level art festival with the guidance and support of national departments and the full cooperation of sister cities.

Wu Changjiang, Secretary of the Party Group and Executive Vice Chairman of the China Artists Association, stated in his speech that Shenzhen, as the "city of design," is full of enthusiasm for design. The National Art Exhibition and Design Exhibition was held in Shenzhen and has received high attention from the Shenzhen Municipal Party Committee and Government, as well as strong support from citizens. We believe that Shenzhen's active efforts will achieve encouraging results, and the urban strategy of building a "design city" will also provide valuable reference experience for the modernization process of the country.

In the exhibition, brilliant creativity and wonderful design presented a rich art feast for the citizens. This design exhibition did not set an exhibition theme in advance, but the exhibited works still reflect China's most distinctive design values at present.

It is reported that at the same time as the current National Art Exhibition Art and Design Exhibition, the "Satellite Exhibition" of this art and design exhibition, "Ronghui: Shenzhen Hong Kong Design Invitation Exhibition", was also unveiled at the Guanshan Yue Art Museum. From yesterday afternoon to this morning, an international design forum with the theme of "Shared Space - Reflection and Outlook on the Shared Value of Design in the Context of Globalization" was held in Shenzhen, providing an international exchange platform for national exhibitions.
