  •  On December 13-18, 2019, the Geng Ying Eighty Art Exhibition was held at the Guan Shanyue Art Museum in Shenzhen, China. This exhibition is not only a systematic summary of the decades of artistic practice of Ms. Geng Ying, a famous calligrapher and painter and founding president of the China Cultural Heritage Foundation, but also a review of her long-standing commitment to public welfare and charity work. It also showcases Ms. Geng Ying's continuous exploration of the path of art, arousing attention and expectations from all sectors of society.

Ms. Geng Ying's artistic journey has always been regarded by the industry as inheriting the tradition of Chinese literati, especially her proficiency in poetry, calligraphy, literature, and painting, reflecting a high level of comprehensive humanistic cultivation. In the 1970s, Ms. Geng Ying became a teacher under Mr. Jiang Zhaohe and began to systematically study Chinese painting. Later, she entered Mr. Wang Shuhui's family to systematically study Chinese painting of beautiful women and sought advice from Chinese painting masters such as Li Keran, Huang Zhou, and Yaming. Ms. Geng Ying inherited the concept of traditional Chinese painting from the older generation of artists, especially the painting of Chinese ladies. She innovated in her creation and formed her own unique appearance.

In her art career, Ms. Geng Ying has always regarded the painting of beautiful women as an important subject in the art of painting to study, develop and express, and selected representative and typical character stories and themes at the nodes of the times, history and culture to create, inherit the essence of traditional art, and be praised by the industry for accurate description of the faces and exquisite hand details. At the same time, Ms. Geng Ying's paintings of beautiful women are more from a historical perspective, focusing on women's social status and themselves, and endowing them with deeper philosophical thinking and modern aesthetics, forming a distinct style through unique interpretation of Chinese culture.

It is understood that Ms. Geng Ying, who was in her thirties specializing in the painting of beautiful women, broke through the world of painting with her talent and diligence. At the age of seventy, she also switched to the field of painting with ancient tree themes, achieving fruitful results. Under the pen of Ms. Geng Ying, every tree transformed through meticulous techniques is "Get the aftertaste and leave the limitations of form", possessing a deeper and more profound realm of thought beyond physical imagery, showcasing the profound meaning of "lifelike trees" and expressing the author's views and concerns about the world, life, and nature.

Ms. Geng Ying's artistic creations, from content, themes to techniques, all have a broad sense of patriotism and a sense of responsibility for national culture, which is also reflected in her years of enthusiasm for cultural protection. In 2007, Ms. Geng Ying founded the China Huaxia Cultural Heritage Foundation, fulfilling the heavy responsibility of cultural protection and inheritance. She continuously awakened the awareness of citizens and society towards the protection of cultural heritage, and made remarkable achievements in promoting the development of traditional culture both domestically and internationally. Since its establishment 12 years ago, the foundation has supported multiple international cultural protection projects and received high social praise. The public welfare brand "Oriental Charm" created by Ms. Geng Ying has brought the essence of China's intangible cultural heritage to countries and regions such as North America, Europe, Japan, Pakistan, and India. It has not only become a pioneer in "going out", but also, as a civil diplomacy ambassador, has built bridges between different cultures, promoting deeper cultural exchange, mutual learning, and development.

It is reported that the "Throwing stones and asking for directions - Geng Ying's Eighty Art Exhibition" has collected representative paintings and research and protection achievements from different periods of Ms. Geng Ying's artistic journey, divided into three parts. The first part, "The Path of Mission," mainly focuses on literature and photos, reproducing the classic moments of Ms. Geng Ying's journey in the cultural industry. The second part "The Road of Art" focuses on Chinese painting, especially the painting of ladies, accompanied by manuscripts and illustrations, presenting a superb artistic style unique to Ms. Geng Ying. The third part, "The Road to Charity," focuses on showcasing the achievements of Dunhuang mural protection led by Ms. Geng Ying, and also showcases her spirit of great love and dedication to cultural protection. This art exhibition is also the most comprehensive exhibition of Ms. Geng Ying's artistic achievements to date, comprehensively and systematically showcasing her magnificent artistic life to the public.

At the age of eighty, I am still asking for directions by throwing stones. Cultural development is never-ending. Ms. Geng Ying constantly asks, "In the inheritance and exploration of painting art, we strive tirelessly for the promotion and development of traditional culture, and set an example for the painting industry and the revival of Chinese culture.".
