The 2019 Key Academic Project of Shenzhen Guan Shanyue Art Museum, jointly organized by ShenzhenGuan Shanyue Art Museum and Tsinghua University School of Fine Arts, will be held at the Guan Shanyue Art Museum from November 23 to December 15, 2019.
Ma Quan is a professor in the Department of Visual Communication Design at the School of Fine Arts, Tsinghua University. He has long been committed to exploring the possibility of cross-border space narrative and design, and has been visiting the hinterland of the desert for many years to explore the self transcending state of individual life in natural space, as well as the coexistence relationship between macro fields and micro objects. In the past decade, comprehensive media such as ink painting, installations, images, music, and printmaking have been used for experimental creation, striving to demonstrate the narrative relationship between visual language and comprehensive media through the continuous collision of physical and mental properties, and to construct new transformation mechanisms between narrative and media, media and language, and presentation and observation.
The "Overlay State - Ma Quan's Works Exhibition"is divided into four units: "No Beginning", "No Inner", "No Outer", and "Infinity", aiming to present Ma Quan's unique artistic world: originating from the desert, but surpassing it; Coming from experience, but subverting it. Crossing the multiple boundaries of secularism and exploration, civilization and wilderness, sound and image, time and space, its polymorphic and overlapping works not only imply the continuous transcendence of linear time by living individuals, but also metaphorically represent the probability of the micro world and the possibility of coexistence of multiple states. On this basis, the viewing experience as a future superposition will also become a derivative part of its artistic world.
The exhibition will be held in the central, A, B, and C exhibition halls on the first floor of the Guan Shanyue Art Museum, showcasing over 100 comprehensive media works related to desert themes created by Ma Quan in the past decade. This exhibition integrates ink painting, music, imaging, installation, printmaking, and comprehensive material painting, creating an immersive art experience space that will bring unique artistic enjoyment to citizens.
