  • "Interaction" is an important element of new media art, which welcomes viewers to participate in different forms, experience the world established through different sensory works, or trace back to history or project into the future, wandering in spatial dimensions and linear or network structures of time. While the viewer reads the information expressed by the artist, each interaction endows the work with layers of meaning. The "Accelerating Photons: New Media Art Exchange Project" takes "photons" as an introduction, which is obvious but still needs to be interpreted. Combining sound and image media interaction, it showcases the works of Singaporean artist Zulkifle Mahmod, Sichuan artist Xu Zhongmin, and Hong Kong artist Wu Shaojin. This project aims to promote new media art and promote artistic exchange and connection between Singapore, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong, and further strengthen cultural exchange and dialogue between Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta region. Zulkifle Mahmod's "Dancing with Frequency" is inspired by the traditional Chinese instrument Guzheng. The entire installation utilizes the concept of this instrument and the participation of the audience to change the meaning of space. Xu Zhongmin's "Egg shaped" series is a set of mechanical model works, where the regular flashing light creates a visual illusion of "movement", and the repeated steps symbolize the survival state of humanity. The weaving machine holds significant importance in the historical development of new media art. Wu Shaojin's "Music Textile Machine" combines a 250 year old antique weaving machine with the present, producing light and shadow melodies according to the hand movements played by the viewer. "Wheel" is a rotating large wheel with a diameter of six meters, in which viewers can shuttle and play fine melodies originating from the sounds around the Kwun Tong Industrial Zone in Hong Kong.
