A total of 90 ink paintings by 45 Chinese and Korean painters were exhibited at the Yachang Art Museum in Shenzhen. This exchange activity is an inter museum exchange project of long-term cooperation between the Guan Shan Yue Art Museum and the Gwangju Yi Zhai Art Museum in South Korea. The South Korean side attaches great importance to this exhibition, and a cultural exchange team of six led by Xu Dazai, the director of the Yi Zhai Art Museum, will participate in the exchange activity and seminar in Shenzhen. The opening ceremony of this exhibition will be held at 3 pm on Monday, October 20, 2008 at the Yachang Art Museum.
Starting from 2004, the Guan Shan Yue Art Museum and the Gwangju Yi Zhai Art Museum in South Korea became friendly museums, and plans were reached to jointly host ink painting exchange exhibitions in Gwangju, South Korea and Shenzhen, China the following year. The two museums have successfully held four ink and wash art exchange exhibitions in both places, and corresponding academic seminars have been organized along with the exhibitions. This activity has made certain contributions to promoting cultural exchange between China and South Korea, as well as expanding the international space for cultural and artistic activities in our city.
The theme of this exchange exhibition is set as "Urban Imagery": aiming to re understand the traditional aesthetic characteristics of urban landscapes, urban people's emotions, and people's thoughts on urbanization through ink painting. It showcases the humanistic care of artists from different perspectives on the survival and development of urban and urban life, as well as their profound urban life experience and the rich and colorful expression language of contemporary ink painting, in order to explore the development space of contemporary ink art with a broader perspective and deeper context.
Due to the fact that ink painting is not only a popular art genre among Chinese and Korean painters, but also one of the long-standing cultural exchanges between China and South Korea, this event can be said to focus on showcasing the achievements of ink painting art in both countries. Therefore, over the years, the good interaction between the two museums has provided a platform for the art circles of China and South Korea, especially for artists engaged in ink painting creation, to deepen understanding and communication, and to have practical significance, which has had a good impact on the art world. Organizing every edition of the ink painting exchange exhibition has become an important external exchange activity for our museum.
