  • After more than a hundred years of development, Chinese printmaking has made rapid progress in the 21st century. At the same time, it is also facing the problem of how to surpass and achieve certain achievements, break the original printmaking standards, and seek greater and more open development. In this process, extensive communication with the foreign printmaking industry and a comprehensive introduction to foreign printmaking are important ways for Chinese printmaking to go beyond the inherent Chinese model and seek new opportunities. Japan has a long history of printmaking, and has a deep connection with traditional Chinese woodcut and folk printing techniques. The representative form of Japanese printmaking, ukiyo-e, played an important role in the development of Impressionist painting in the 19th century. Contemporary Japanese printmaking adheres to the exquisite and delicate craftsmanship tradition of traditional printmaking, and presents a contemporary connotation of openness and conservatism in concept, forming a unique appearance that is different from traditional ukiyo-e, Chinese printmaking, and Western contemporary printmaking. The purpose of this exhibition is to introduce the current situation of Japanese printmaking and provide useful reference for the development of contemporary Chinese printmaking.

At the same time, the "Meirouting Copperplate Painting Techniques Training Conference" will be launched from September 8th to 9th, 2007, which is a key project of the "Second Classroom" public education work in Guanguan this year. The seminar will last for two days and will be delivered by the renowned Japanese printmaker Takeshi Kasei. The content includes the history of Japanese printmaking, the production techniques of Meirouting copperplate, and an introduction to modern and contemporary Japanese printmaking. The seminar will publicly invite printmaking enthusiasts to combine teaching and practice, allowing citizens to directly experience the charm and fun of art through participation and hands-on practice.
