  • As one of the key events of Shenzhen's Creativity December, the "Masuteru Aoba Poster Design Memorial Exhibition," organized by Creativity December and the Promotion Office of the City of Design, and undertaken by Guan Shanyue Art Museum and Shenzhen Illustration Association with the collaboration of Japan Graphic Designers Association, is held at Guan Shanyue Art Museum in Shenzhen. This exhibition marks the first solo show of Masuteru Aoba in China, showcasing a total of 196 pieces of his peace, environmental protection, social public themes, and some commercial poster works created throughout his life, along with 24 manuscripts from his creative process. Designers and citizens alike can get an "up-close and personal" look at the master's works, experiencing his design talents and boundless creativity.

The late design master Masuteru Aoba participated in numerous exhibitions throughout his life and designed posters for internationally renowned large-scale events, yet he never held a solo exhibition in China. Thanks to the joint efforts of Guan Shanyue Art Museum and Shenzhen Illustration Association, his first solo exhibition in China is now taking place in Shenzhen. In gratitude for Shenzhen's respect for design, Masuteru Aoba's wife, “Aoba Takako, has donated 100 original poster works on behalf of Masuteru Aoba to the city.

Peace and environmental protection are the two major themes of Masuteru Aoba's poster designs. His works have had a profound impact on the design communities both globally and in China, earning him virtually all major international awards. They represent the most classic poster designs from Japan, with some even recognized as timeless masterpieces by the international design community.

Masuteru Aoba's posters possess a strong visual impact, pioneering the style of photographic posters in creation, and becoming a representative symbol of an era. Alain Werts, Director of the Musée de la Publicité in Paris, believes that Masuteru Aoba's works skillfully combine graphic design with montage techniques, achieving a stimulating, authentic, and precise effect. He never abandoned his youthful ideals, continuously accumulating work experience, and becoming a renowned modern graphic design master.
