  • Wu Shuang

Born in 1988 into an artistic family, Wu Shuang hails from Dongtai, Jiangsu Province, and grew up in Nanjing. She studied at Macao Polytechnic Institute and Beijing Language and Culture University, graduating from the Department of Calligraphy, Nanjing Arts Institute, in 2011. In 2021, she was awarded the title of "Silk Road Youth Cultural Ambassador," and in 2022, she received the Excellence Award at the "Sixth German-Chinese Youth Artists Development Fund Joint Exhibition - Hidden Oriental Beauty" in Germany. Her work "It Amidst the Inky Haze" won the Bronze Award in the 39th Florence Literature and Art Awards in the painting category.

Currently, she is a National Third-Class Artist, a member of the China Democratic League, a member of the China Women Artists Association, a specially-appointed painter at the Youth Painting Academy of Li Keran Art Academy, a council member of the Beijing Haidian District Artists Association, a member of the Beijing Haidian District Calligraphers Association, and a council member of the Nanjing Youth Artists Association.

Talented and versatile, Wu Shuang has had an extraordinary love and expression for art since childhood, influenced by her family environment. She studied under Mr. Zhuang Tianming of the Nanjing Museum and Mr. Ding Fang of Nanjing University in her early years. From junior high school, Wu Shuang used her vacations every year to visit famous cultural sites in China, such as Dunhuang in Gansu, Yongle Palace in Shanxi, and the Terracotta Army in Xi'an, and traveled several times to Greece, Italy, France, the United States, Ukraine, Japan, and South Korea to understand ancient human civilizations and contemporary multiculturalism, accumulating rich visual experience.

Since 2016, Wu Shuang has begun to distinguish herself among young artists, holding solo exhibitions in Beijing, Nanjing, Zhengzhou, Macao, and other places. These exhibitions have been reported by media such as Guangming Daily, Xinhua Net, China Art News, Macao Daily News, Ho Kong Daily, Zhengzhou Daily, and she has been interviewed by CCTV.com, Beijing Radio and Television Station, and other media. Her depiction of flowers using different techniques of ink and color painting is refreshing, displaying distinctive personality traits and style. Her works have been selected for many important art exhibitions at home and abroad and are collected by institutions such as the Municipality of Benevento, Italy, the German-Chinese Cultural Exchange Foundation, the Cheers for the Olympic Games Organizing Committee, Nanjing Art Museum, Macao Polytechnic Institute, Zhengzhou Ideal Land, and others.

In addition to her own creations, she also curates exhibitions for her peers. In August 2018, she curated the "Healing Star Gazing Exhibition" (Today Art Museum, Beijing). In April 2020, Wu Shuang's photography works "Sunset Glow" and "Distance" were selected for the online exhibition "Gentle Breeze – Invitation Exhibition of Contemporary Female Artists" (Beijing).

Wu Shuang's "crazy love" for flowers prompts her to explore multiple aspects beyond painting. With the artistic design of "Flower Art Jiangnan," she integrates beauty into daily necessities. In music videos related to flowers, such as "Fleeting Fireworks," "Even the Wild Lily Has Its Spring," "Woman Flower," and "The Affection of Leaves to Roots," she integrates literature, music, painting, calligraphy, and performance, forming a comprehensive artistic expression centered on flowers.
