  • Wang Muyu, as a young artist who has received increasing attention in recent years in China, is an important case of contemporary young painters attempting to establish a new artistic language for exploration. He began exploring water maps in 2015, starting with studying Ma Yuan's "Water Map" and utilizing the uniqueness of Shengxuan paper and Chinese ink painting to create a new "water method". Through the translation of traditional water techniques and the re reading and deconstruction of classic texts, Wang Muyu gradually established his own unique artistic language system.

This exhibition showcases nearly 40 representative works of Wang Muyu's water map series since 2016. The exhibition's works not only include four thematic directions created by Wang Muyu in the past five years, including "about Ma Yuan", "about text", "Mu Yu's water method", and "images of water", but also his latest group of paintings created through his re research on the spatial nature of Ma Yuan's water maps, comprehensively showcasing his exploration ideas and creative achievements based on contemporary, traditional, language exploration, and image thinking.
