1、 The 7th Shenzhen International Ink Painting Biennale Theme Exhibition
Planner: Dong Xiaoming, Yan Shanchun, Chen Jun
The theme exhibitions of this year's Biennale showcase the unique value of ink painting and its potential spiritual connotation in contemporary art through three aspects: traditional brushstrokes depicting new themes to create a contemporary context, the integration of various art media to present traditional ink elements, and the exploration of ink art by young art students.
(1) A new realm of brushwork and ink
On the basis of previous themed exhibitions such as "Pen and Ink Inheritance" and "Pen and Ink in the Contemporary Era" at the Biennale, "Pen and Ink New Realm" continues to explore the position, value, and role of "Pen and Ink" in contemporary ink and wash creation. "Pen and ink", as a unique artistic language in traditional Chinese painting, once complemented the character of literati. In the contemporary context, it brings new visual experiences and obtains new aesthetic experiences due to its new creative themes. This unit invites over 20 artists who have long focused on refining their brushstrokes to jointly study the various possibilities of traditional brushstrokes in depicting contemporary life situations.
(2) New Language Rhyme Transmission
"New Words and Rhymes" is an extension of topics such as "Design Ink", "Ink Space", and "New Media Ink Urban" at the Biennale, focusing on exploring the artistic concepts, creative techniques, and presentation methods of contemporary ink. Through non-traditional ink painting art language such as oil painting, printmaking, sculpture, installation, photography, and digital, create ink illusion and express the interest of ink painting. This unit invited more than 20 contemporary artists from both domestic and foreign countries to participate in the exhibition, in order to reflect on the inheritance of traditional Chinese culture by contemporary art, as well as the development boundaries and regeneration space of ink painting art.
