 2020 is a special year, as we have experienced difficult epidemics, economic pressures, and changes in international relations together. The just concluded "Two Sessions" have conveyed our confidence in "nurturing new opportunities in crisis and opening up new opportunities in change". In early summer, we will work tirelessly with the people of the whole country to overcome difficulties together!           

As we have always followed, the Guan Shanyue Art Museum always takes research as the leader, collection as the foundation, display, education, and promotion as the means, to meet the growing spiritual and cultural needs of the people, and to build a complete and efficient public cultural service system as the goal. On one hand, there is perseverance that never forgets the original intention, and on the other hand, continuous reform and innovation. From the sudden outbreak of the epidemic at the beginning of the year to the collective efforts and nationwide fight against the epidemic, accompanied by the rapid application of various high-tech in the fight against the epidemic, every Chinese and Shenzhen person has left a deep memory of 2020. How to persevere in this rapidly surging tide and continue to provide higher quality art works for the people has always been the focus of the work of Guan Shanyue Art Museum. History is like a stream of water, and today's changes are contained in yesterday. The only thing art museum people can do is to record the imprints of the present and create new vitality for the future. The water of the Yellow River flows endlessly, it is a fusion of "front waves" and "rear waves" that cannot be broken or intercepted, only infinite "extension" that never stops. Using "front waves and rear waves" as the theme of this special year's "present" exhibition is our new reflection on 2020.           

As a national key art museum, Guan Shanyue Art Museum has a clear academic positioning and development ideas. We adhere to the collection as the basis, and have embarked on a development path that combines the cultural characteristics of Shenzhen city with the long-term development of the art museum, and organically combines the functions of the Art Master Memorial Museum with the National Art Museum. In 2020, through various changes and developments, Shenzhen artists reflected and recorded this special year with their own brushes through their own feelings and insights. This exhibition is the fourth summary of the achievements of the Guan Shanyue Art Museum's creative institute after its first appearance in 2017. The participating artists are the backbone of Shenzhen's art creation, and their age spans across youth and middle age. They are not only the "front waves" and "rear waves" of the artist community, but also represent the "front waves" and "rear waves" of this great era. We can feel their differences, but we cannot accurately define their boundaries. They are both merging and changing, extending infinitely, coexisting and coexisting. In their pursuit of artistic creation, they also have differences and coexistence. In 2020, we experienced the epidemic together and underwent new thinking. Artists have developed a more intuitive and unique creative core towards this difference and coexistence. We hope that they and artists from all over the country can work together to promote the development of China's art industry, and use excellent art works of the times to cultivate new opportunities and open up new horizons!
