 "Research on Chinese Art in the 20th Century" and "Special Topics on the Works of Local Artists in Shenzhen" are two advantageous academic directions of the Guan Shanyue Art Museum. Since the construction of the special zone for 40 years, Shenzhen has seen a group of old artists who have made outstanding contributions to the art industry. They are promoting the development of Shenzhen's art industry with a spirit of dedication and noble artistic character. Through the accumulation and collection of case studies on the older generation of artists in Shenzhen, it is of great significance to touch on the development of art in Shenzhen for over 40 years through the artist's artistic journey. Mr. Huang Xishun is an important representative of this group of old artists in sorting out the history of art development in Shenzhen and its character formation. Based on this, starting from 2018, Mr. Huang Xishun's art has entered the collection plan of Guan Shanyue Art Museum. After more than a year of negotiations, Guan Shanyue Art Museum and Mr. Huang Xishun have reached an intention to collect. Mr. Huang Xishun has created a total of 392 art works in his over 50 years of art as a donation framework, including oil paintings, oil sticks, watercolor, sketches, etc., which will be permanently collected by Guan Shanyue Art Museum in Shenzhen. The Guan Shanyue Art Museum has applied for collection funds from the Shenzhen Special Fund for Propaganda and Cultural Development as a reward. Mr. Huang Xishun used his act of kindness to demonstrate that donating works of the older generation of artists to the art museum for collection is the best destination.

As an older generation artist who worked at the grassroots level and had a firsthand experience in participating in the construction of special zones in the early stages of reform and opening up, Huang Xishun's art can be said to be a microcosm of regional cultural development and regional aesthetic development under specific historical backgrounds from the perspective of local cultural development history. The attention to his artistic process has special significance for the evolution of the framework of art research during the reform and opening up period. In order to maximize the value of this collection of works, the Guan Shanyue Art Museum will launch the 2020 "Exploring Echoes - Huang Xishun Donated Works Exhibition" themed "Celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the Establishment of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone - Collection of Shenzhen Local Artists". This exhibition, through the case study of Huang Xishun and a series of activities such as exhibitions, publicity, and publishing, is of great significance for deepening the research on the "Collection of Shenzhen Local Artists Works" at the Guan Shanyue Art Museum.
