Click to view Art is like a rushing and endless river that needs to be developed from generation to generation, like a relay race. "Mr. Guan Shanyue discusses the development of art through" relay "and reminds us that tradition needs to constantly integrate new life experiences in order to avoid being trapped in existing forms.
The Guanshan Yue Art Museum and the Chinese Gongbi Painting Society have been jointly promoting the "Youth Impression" project for many years, hoping to connect the research, collection, and public communication functions of the art museum with the professional creation and emotional journey of young Gongbi painters, and provide opportunities for observation, research, and exchange for the still emerging practice. The innovative cultural characteristics of Shenzhen city not only provide rich creative experience for young artists, but also become the best platform for showcasing this project.
The "Youth Seal" project was initiated in 2014 and has been continuously focusing on the creations of Chinese young meticulous artists for twelve years. In the early stages of the project, theme exhibitions were the main focus, emphasizing the rich creative aspects of the artists; Subsequently, a parallel structure of theme exhibitions and spatial projects was gradually formed, providing a complete display unit for young artists with mature creative systems. More than a decade of continuous promotion has allowed more people to see the unique responses made by contemporary young meticulous artists to traditional aesthetic experiences, brushwork forms, viewing methods, and contextual logic based on their own life experiences and interests. Some of them use gongbi as a medium to deal with their current survival experiences, some re-enter traditional patterns from a technological perspective, and some expand the boundaries of gongbi through changes in materials, space, or narrative. Gongbi is therefore not only a set of painting techniques that correspond to established brushstrokes and color schemes, but also a method of understanding reality and personal expression.
The "Star Cluster: Twelve Years of Fine Brushwork Art Ecological Exhibition of Youth Heart Imprint" is a summary of the phased accumulation of this project. The term 'star cluster' refers to how different creative practices are interconnected through differences. The exhibition is based on the practices of 12 artists, presenting not only their paintings but also manuscripts, notes, reference materials, and everyday objects related to their creations. The purpose of this exhibition is not to recreate a complete creative story, but to suggest how a work gradually takes shape through long-term observation, interest, and reflection. The paths of the 12 artists are not the same, but through continuous creation, exhibition, and discussion, they form multiple facets of contemporary meticulous painting. Through this exhibition, we look back on the twelve years that "Youth Seal" has gone through, and also hope to bring more young meticulous creations that are happening into the research and public eye.
