The original music sharing session of the Book of Songs echoes the "People's Scenery - Collection of Guan Shanyue's New China Sketching Special Exhibition" currently being exhibited at Guan Shanyue Art Museum. Chen Junyu, the director of Guan Shanyue Art Museum, delivered the opening speech. Mr. Guan Shanyue's works depict the spiritual outlook of the people with delicate brushstrokes, shining in harmony with the beauty of labor praised in the Book of Songs.
The event uses music as a medium and ancient poetry as a foundation, inviting composer and promoter of intangible cultural heritage, Mr. Jiang Bo, singer and vocal teacher, Ms. Kang Ru, young flute performer, Mr. Weng Ruofeng, and cross-cultural planner, Ms. Ye Feng, to jointly perform New Chinese style music. Teacher Jiang Bo re composed 305 poems from the Book of Songs based on contemporary music aesthetics. The event carefully selected 7 of them and presented them in the form of Xiao Di combined with human singing. The rich artistic forms blend and collide, and traditional culture shines new in the modern context, allowing the audience to experience the classical rebirth in modern light and shadow.
The song 'Deer Roar' opens the curtain, and the sound enters the ears, like the tinkling of spring water, awakening the sleeping ancient style, reproducing the joy of ancient banquets and the beauty of harmony, and delivering a welcome speech to the audience. Then, singing in harmony with Xiao's voice, the "Lu Ling" praises the majestic posture of ancient hunters and the agility of hunting dogs, with a gentle and pleasant melody; The melody of 'Han Guang' flows like a river, singing the thoughts of woodcutters and sighing at the distance of beautiful women; The melody of 'Papaya' is light and warm, expressing the sentiment of giving and answering, and expressing the wish for eternal goodness; Amidst the ups and downs of the song 'Picking Ge', it expresses longing through the song of labor; The interpretation of 'Peng Fu' reproduces the joy of ancient people picking and working. Entering the scenery with poetry, the "sound" is in front of it, and the singing of teachers ,Jiang Bo, Kang Ru, and Ye Feng is like smoke and waves on the river, corresponding to the ancient rhyme; Teacher Weng Ruofeng's Xiao Yin is like smoke in a distant tree, complementing each other perfectly. Flowing water and clouds flow naturally, painting the ancient rhyme of the Book of Songs and praising the beauty of labor.
Artists and Audiences
Jointly outline the 'scenery of the people'
The combination of "speaking" and "acting" is the biggest highlight of this sharing session. Using the song 'Between Ten Acres' as a reference, the audience was invited to experience an immersive experience on site. Teacher Jiang Bo passionately taught, and the entire audience followed suit with gentle singing. Kangru and Ye Feng teachers came to the stage, and the three teachers sang together with the audience. The singing sound was like a gentle stream converging into a river, echoing in the exhibition hall, like the laughter of ancient laboring people echoing in the fields, like the singing of mulberry picking women fluttering in the wind. Teacher Weng Ruofeng's flute sound is gentle and coordinated with the singing, like a gentle breeze brushing against the face, like a flowing stream, fully interpreting the artistic conception of "Between Ten Acres". In the interweaving of singing and melody, the audience immerses themselves in the ancient charm and modern style, touching the texture of time and resonating with the poetry of labor. Artists and audiences use sound to outline the 'scenery of the people', like skilled hands, splashing ink and brush strokes, creating vivid and lively paintings that unfold naturally and smoothly.
This art museum night is not only an enjoyment of art, but also a cultural inheritance. The audience's emotions move in the middle and form in sound, reciting the beauty of life together. The life of poetry continues from this, and traditional culture radiates new vitality and energy. The Book of Songs has truly become a scenery and a song of the people, coming and returning with enthusiasm in this area.
That evening, the audience also visited the "People's Scenery - Collection of Guan Shanyue's New China Sketching Exhibition" launched by Guan Shanyue Art Museum. This exhibition outlines the entire process of Guan Shanyue leading the reform of traditional Chinese painting in the New China era through four parts: Lingnan sketching, capital sketching, Hubei sketching, and Jiangxia sketching. Guan Shanyue closely connects on-site sketching with the culture and reality, production and construction since the founding of New China. On the one hand, it connects the visual perception of the working people, and on the other hand, it reproduces the visual landscapes that belong to and are created by the working people. Through sketching the beautiful mountains and rivers, it expresses the "people-oriented" nature of literature and art.
Since its launch, the "Night at the Art Museum" event has been deeply loved by citizens. Guanshanyue Art Museum will continue to hold more activities with different themes, providing citizens with a high-quality platform to experience the beauty of art and offering higher quality and diverse public cultural activities.
