The public art of Wuhan city is closely related to the development of Chinese society, politics, economy, and culture, and the transformation of these elements profoundly affects the development of public art in Wuhan city. For Wuhan, which plays an important role in modern history, it is not only important because of its transportation hub status, but also because of its early opening as a port, and is related to important historical events in modern history, such as the Xinhai Revolution and flood control. These events not only reflect the drastic transformation of social structure, but also to varying degrees affect the development path of public art in Wuhan city. If time is the longitude and events are the latitude, the public art of Wuhan city has shown different visual and spiritual demands in different historical periods. "Two major sections and five periods" are important features of public art in Wuhan.

The Locality of Public Art
Introduction to Some Works
A Day for Shenzhen People
The public art project "A Day for Shenzhen People" focuses on November 29, 1999, when 18 citizens from different social classes and professions were randomly searched by sculptors on the streets of Shenzhen to create bronze and other large portraits. Four black marble relief walls were used to carve various data on urban life in Shenzhen that day, including stock market trends, agricultural and sideline product prices, weather forecasts, and the Shenzhen Evening News page. The breakthrough of this project lies in its process of conceptualizing and completing public art, which is built on the foundation of civil society. While emphasizing the methodological awareness of creators, it effectively conveys the values of democracy, openness, interaction, and sharing of public art through public participation and interaction.

This work has three-dimensional processed the "like" logo on social media platforms, continuing the exploration of "relationship" issues in the artist's "Tenon and Mouth" series. With the comprehensive invasion of social life by social networks, the relationships between people and society are gradually becoming flattened. While providing individuals with more convenient and efficient channels to speak out, it also presents the contradictions of various social relationships more directly. Does social networking connect individuals and bring them closer, or does virtual space cause reverse exploitation of social reality? This topic is open, diverse, and worthy of social attention and long-term discussion.
The Shadow of People
Matsuo Shingen
2018
The basic styling elements of this work are only three - vertical, leftward sloping, and rightward sloping. Each individual "figure" is composed of four half cylinders of three different types, which can be arranged into 24 different forms of "people". This is like everyone's DNA, or everyone's fingerprint, they are all the same elements, but the different forms of combination distinguish "me" from "you".
The Water Says

2021
This is an interactive device work that combines AI artificial intelligence technology. Viewers can "talk" to the water in the pond through private voice input, and the water will respond in its native language (ripples). This work explores the philosophical proposition of the existence of spirits in all things through the use of "art and technology", attempting to use technology as a "spiritual medium" to make nature speak and manifest in a supernatural "natural language". By rebuilding the super link between humans and nature, it awakens the sense of awe that humans have lost towards nature in the process of civilization.
