The current Dean of the School of Art Management and Education at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, as well as the Dean of the Sino French School of Art and Design Management (Pudong, Shanghai, Sino foreign cooperative education institution), Director of the National Institute of Art and Cultural Policy at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Deputy Director of the Art Education Committee of the China Artists Association, Second level Professor, and Doctoral Supervisor.
Established the first visual art management major in China at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, committed to promoting the construction of the Chinese art management discipline and major, and established the "Chinese Art Management Education Society" as its current chairman. It is a pioneer in the field of Chinese art management. His representative work "Salute to Art: Visual Art Management in China and the United States" is the first academic monograph that systematically reviews and compares the management of art institutions, cultural policies, cultural industries, museums, and public art in China and the United States. It is also the first English version of the work to disseminate Chinese experience overseas in the field of art management. As an important expert and scholar in the field of art management in the country, have been commissioned by the Ministry of Culture and other governments to plan and organize a series of important academic exchange activities as well as major projects for the overseas dissemination of Chinese art. Has won the Academic Achievement Award from the Ministry of Education multiple times and is a national first-class virtual simulation course; In 2022, the curation and art education virtual laboratory led by him was approved as a national level virtual teaching and research laboratory pilot.
In 2012, which was the year of Chinese Culture in Germany and also the 13th Kassel Literature Exhibition year, the "Journey to the Great Road, China Contemporary Public Art Exhibition" jointly curated by Mr. Fan Dian, then director of the Chinese Museum of Art, Professor Klaus Sibenhal, dean of the School of Culture and Media Management at the Free University of Berlin, and Professor Yu Ding from the Central Academy of Fine Arts, made its debut in Kassel, becoming a key project of the German Chinese Culture Year and also paying tribute to the 1100th anniversary of the founding of the city of Kassel.
This exhibition was exhibited in Kassel for 172 days, attracting a global audience of 1.5 million and causing a sensation in Germany. It is also the largest public art exhibition held overseas by China to date.
Ten years have passed, and looking back at this exhibition, it remains a classic case of overseas dissemination of Chinese public art, as well as an important milestone in cultural exchange and cooperation between China and Germany. As the co curator of this exhibition, Professor Yu Ding will review the entire process of exhibition planning, organization, and implementation in this lecture. While sharing his experience of overseas curation, he will also discuss the impact of public art on a city.
