The Lugou Bridge Incident on July 7, 1937 marked the beginning of China's comprehensive resistance against Japan. Chinese culture and art underwent a historic and significant transformation, shifting from enlightenment during the May Fourth period to salvation. The literary and artistic figures of the May Fourth period hoped to introduce advanced Western culture, transform Chinese society from political, economic, cultural and other aspects, and achieve the ideal of enriching the country and strengthening the people by improving the quality of the people. The outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression interrupted the process of enlightenment in Chinese society, and placed the historical mission of unity and salvation in front of every Chinese people. As social elites, intellectuals and artists actively stood on the front line of the War of Resistance, awakening all the people to fight for the survival of the nation.
