This lecture is hosted by three architects and artists from Italy and China, respectively. Reflecting on urban renewal and local cultural conservation, and attempting to use international "ecological museum" theory as inspiration to share theoretical origins, specific practices, and exploration of the development of traditional Chinese villages.
"Ecological Museum", a theory originated in France and used to revitalize communities, has been practiced internationally, especially in countries such as Europe and Japan, for more than 40 years. In the operation of communities, the concept of "ecological museums" plays an important mediating role, acting on the traditional heritage of the region, providing methods for revitalizing local characteristics, and injecting new meanings into it. Therefore, unlike general urban renewal, which mainly focuses on the restoration of buildings and other materials, it encourages public participation and focuses on the comprehensive sustainable development of the community itself.
Leggeri S.r. has over 100 years of experience in architectural restoration and engineering in Europe. He values humanistic care and collaborates with a wide range of artists. His works have been exhibited at famous European events such as the Venice Biennale and Basel, as well as with galleries, collectors, and artists such as John Armleder, Maurizio Cattelan,Michelangelo Pistoletto, Cai Guoqiang et al.
Finally, based on the local situation in China, propose thoughts on local cultural conservation. And introduce several ongoing projects in traditional Chinese villages, attempting to combine inspiration from international "ecological museum" theory, and propose ideas for sustainable development in local culture, lifestyle habits, traditional heritage, economy, and other aspects.
