On Sunday, July 28, the 2024 Guan Shanyue Art Museum New Volunteer Meet-and-Greet was held in the museum's second-floor auditorium. Despite the heavy rain, over 100 new volunteers arrived at the venue on time. Xie Xianliang, a teacher from our art museum, gave a presentation titled "Giving Roses, Leaving a Fragrance – Welcoming New Volunteers at Guan Shanyue Art Museum." Xie's presentation covered four aspects: "Understanding the Guan Shanyue Art Museum," "Knowing the Guan Museum's Volunteer Team and Its Activities," "The Advantages of Being a Guan Museum Volunteer," and "How to Become a Guan Museum Volunteer." He issued a call to "do what we can to help others; spread aesthetics, and be guardians and inheritors of Chinese civilization." The meet-and-greet served as a two-way interview, followed by self-introductions from the volunteers. Each volunteer spoke about their profession, interests, their experiences with art and museums, and the reasons for choosing to become a volunteer at the Guan Museum. Among the volunteers present, there were retired individuals over 60 years old, university students, teachers, professors, lawyers, doctors, as well as designers, photographers, and engineers, along with professional interpreters and tour guides... They have injected fresh vitality into our museum's volunteer family. Cheng Ping, another teacher from our museum, also conducted the first training session for volunteers on the special exhibition project "A Long Wind Spanning Tens Of Thousands Of Miles: A Special Exhibition On Guan Shanyue And Poetic Landscape Paintings Since Modern Times" allowing volunteers to understand the exhibitions currently on display at our museum and the profound traditional culture behind them. Cheng sincerely thanked everyone for their dedication and described the volunteers as individuals with a "wooden bell mindset," carrying the responsibility and mission to inherit, disseminate, and promote the extensive and profound Chinese excellent traditional culture.
