Workshop Session 1: AI Empowered Digital Interpretation of Experimental Ink Painting

First session: AI powered digital interpretation of experimental ink painting

Event Introduction

Based on the policy background of "Artificial Intelligence+", this workshop focuses on artificial intelligence and interactive media creation tools, and explores the cross-border integration and innovative expression of AI and experimental ink art based on AI image generation technology. Through on-site experience, students can recognize the methods of expanding the boundaries of ink painting art with modern technological language, and promote the breakthrough and evolution of experimental ink painting in the digital age.

Second session: AI empowers digital interpretation of cultural heritage

Event Introduction

The Digital Interpretation of Artificial Intelligence Cultural Heritage "is an interactive painting experience based on AIGC, with creative logic derived from traditional Chinese meticulous flower and bird paintings. Users can freely draw within the painting area, and the system uses the traditional painting process as a learning and generation mode to understand and transform their painting behavior, gradually generating a complete picture with a meticulous flower and bird painting style. During the experience, users do not need to master professional painting skills. They only need to participate in simple painting with the assistance of AIGC to complete the process from lines to colors, from sketches to finished paintings, and experience the creative pleasure of combining traditional painting methods with contemporary generation technology. Using AI as a modern language to learn and replicate traditional patterns/paintings is not only a new cultural heritage, but also a way to revitalize traditional culture.

Mentor Introduction: Liu Yadan

I graduated with a bachelor's degree from the University of Hertfordshire in the UK, a master's degree from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and a PhD from the University of Macau. Its research focuses on the relationship between circles and their spirituality in visual art.

Event Introduction

Starting from the visual installation 'Port Window', this workshop guides participants to enter the symbolic world of 'circle' through the imagery of 'window', starting from the reflection on 'viewing, boundaries, and inner space' in the work. In the activity, the lecturer will briefly introduce the relevant theories of self nature and psychological integration, and lead participants to create paintings related to "circle" around the theme of "I". Participants do not need to have a foundation in painting and can freely use colors, lines, and patterns to express their current emotions, memories, and inner feelings. After the creation is completed, everyone will rediscover their work through sharing and guided observation, and gain a process of self-expression, self exploration, and artistic healing experience.

Scene 5/6: From Historical Painting to Technological Empowerment - Chinese Painting that is "Tourable and Livable"

Graduated from the Master's program in Cultural Management at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, currently serving as a consultant for the University Art Center at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen), director of the Purple Knowledge East Garden of the Sustainable Development Theme Community Museum, expert in the Shenzhen Cultural Industry Expert Database, and director of the Museum Research Center at the Shenzhen Guoyuan Cultural Research Institute.

Event Introduction

This workshop echoes the two core themes of the exhibition, "Contemporary Translation" and "Dialogue of Time and Space". It relies on the "Spring Tour" by Sui Dynasty painter Zhan Ziqian and the "Journey to the Mountains and Streams" by Song Dynasty painter Fan Kuan, which are included in the "Chinese Painting Series of Various Dynasties", to analyze and trace the "livable and touristic" landscape paintings in the history of Chinese painting. Around this core aesthetic concept, combined with the exhibited works in the exhibition, it guides the audience to compare the creative context of ancient and modern times, explore the paths of artists in different eras relying on multiple media to interpret landscape imagery, and experience the continuation and innovation of traditional brush and ink spirit. Through comparing ancient and modern paintings, one can experience the spiritual resonance between classical landscape ideals and contemporary viewers, completing a journey of ink painting art that transcends time and space.
