Make good use of red resources and continue the red bloodline. Recently, the Guanshanyue Art Museum in Shenzhen has planned to launch the "Red Bloodline - Public Education Project for Ideological and Political Education" based on the special exhibition "Flames Casting Bones - National Spirit Atlas in Guanshanyue Art" currently on display, promoting ideological and political education from "books" to "situations" and from "classrooms" to "scenes". The project is centered around "immersive experience+artistic resonance", guiding young people to perceive national spirit in historical contexts through role-playing, situational interaction, and other methods, and to cultivate patriotism through artistic influence.
On the occasion of commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti Fascist War, the "Flames Casting Bones" special exhibition was launched, selecting more than 30 treasures from Mr. Guan Shanyue's anti Japanese themed collection. Through five major sections: "Retreat from the City," "Suffering and Rebirth," "Smoke and Tides," "Mountains and Rivers and Homeland," and "Iron Bones and Rivers," the exhibition connects the artist's creative process from the period of anti Japanese migration to the new appearance of mountains and rivers, and witnesses with pen and ink the spiritual context of the Chinese nation's rise from humiliation. Exhibition is not only a presentation of art, but also a 'visual epic of national spirit'.
Based on this, Guan Shanyue Art Museum innovatively launched the "Red Bloodline" ideological and political education project, selecting the most narrative tension section of "Retreat from the City" in the exhibition and transforming it into an immersive script called "Retreat from the City". With the fall of Guangzhou in 1938 as the background, through role-playing, code translation, group interaction and other links, students are "transported" to the war-torn years, resonating with patriotic youth in history, and making red education "live" and "move".
It is worth mentioning that this project has developed a public education booklet titled 'Time Traveler in the Smoke' specifically for the theme. The booklet is designed from the perspective of a "time traveler" and guides participants to combine immersive experiences with active exploration through various interactive forms such as "checking in, observing and thinking, answering questions, and writing reflections". During the activity, students can obtain seals by completing script killing tasks, observing exhibition original works, and answering interactive questions; At the same time, the booklet includes chapters such as "Alarm Sound", "Watch in the Wind and Snow", "Sea Beacon", "Today's Professor Life", and "Journey to the West Sketching Road", encouraging students to write down their understanding and insights about the exhibition based on their viewing experience.
In the activity, the brochure became a key carrier connecting "experience observation thinking expression": students actively observed the exhibition details through the task of accumulating chapters, answered questions with drawings and words, recorded their insights, effectively enhanced the fun and depth of learning, and further consolidated the effectiveness of red education.
The first phase of the project has planned six activities, and two have been successfully held, targeting middle school students from Shixia Middle School of Hongling Education Group (November 19th) and fifth grade students from Tianjian Primary School (November 21st). Both events are based on the script "Retreat from the City", and through the form of "host guidance+student role involvement+multi act interaction", lead participants to deeply perceive the indomitable will displayed by the people in the face of national and family destruction on the eve of the 1938 Guangzhou retreat.
At the event, students transformed into patriotic youth in the script, embarking on a "flesh and blood" journey of history. The host appeared as "Mr. Pei, a patriotic figure" (based on Mr. Guan Shanyue) and narrated the historical background through classroom lectures. The students were divided into five camps, each interpreting five patriotic youths adapted from real prototypes. They began their stories as merchants, medical staff, students, soldiers, and fishermen. As the plot progresses, students continuously advance the clues through interactive activities such as "translating codes", and the script progresses layer by layer, reaching climax one after another. Under the immersive guidance, everyone seems to have traveled back to 1938, in the turbulent era, experiencing revolutionary emotions and patriotism firsthand, and inspiring patriotic enthusiasm through the experience.
After the event, the teachers and students shared their feelings. Yuan Wenjun, a teacher from Shixia Middle School of Hongling Education Group who participated in the entire event, said, "Today's event was designed very well and is also a new attempt for the museum and school activities. The students came back and said they still want to participate. At present, the "Red Bloodline - Public Education Project for Ideological and Political Courses" has successfully held two events, and the following four activities will be launched one after another, open for registration to primary and secondary schools and youth groups throughout the city. Each event will continue to be conducted in the form of "script killing+exhibition hall guided tours", combining different characters and stories from the "Flames Casting Bones" exhibition, leading more teenagers to "travel" to Guangzhou in 1938 and walk side by side with patriotic youth.
