The story behind the work: During the years of gunpowder, Guan Shanyue once relied on painting red cotton and roses to make a living. She wrote a poem with the words "I am only ashamed to live against my heart" to express her helplessness. Forty years later, he reshaped red cotton with "Red Cotton and White Dove": the branches were as strong as iron bones, the vermilion flowers were as hot as blood, and the white dove perched on the branches symbolized peace. This painting has already surpassed ordinary flowers and birds, becoming a portrayal of the national backbone tempered in hardship.
